It can be challenging to know which pants will give you the best experience on the trails. With our pant guide, we’ll help you find the right cross-country ski pants for your needs.
To make it simple, we’ve organized the pants into three categories – based on intensity and conditions. Read through the guide to find the right pants tailored to you and your training.
Consider which heart rate zone you’re most often in. Higher heart rates require pants that are more breathable than insulating, while lower intensities demand more warmth. This way, you’ll find the model that’s optimal for your needs.

Frequently asked questions about cross-country ski pants
How do I choose the right pants?
Start by looking at the type of sessions you do most often. If you ski with a high heart rate and train hard, choose pants in the Race and High Intensity category with maximum breathability. If you usually train at a steady pace, Training and Moderate Intensity is the right fit. If you prefer calm sessions or need extra warmth on cold days, choose Warmer Pants for Colder Days.
How do I find the right fit?
All Dæhlie pants provide excellent freedom of movement. The fit is close to the body to reduce air resistance but may vary slightly depending on material thickness. Some prefer a tighter fit, others a looser one. Use our size guide on the product pages to find the size that fits you best.
What do the materials mean?
Most Dæhlie pants feature a softshell front that protects against wind and efficiently wicks away moisture. The thickness determines the level of insulation. Some models combine softshell with wool, which adds warmth, regulates temperature naturally, and effectively transports moisture away from the body.
Can I use the same pants in different conditions?
Yes. Once you’ve chosen pants based on your most common training intensity, you can easily adjust for temperature with the right base layer. Wool provides natural temperature regulation and extra warmth in colder conditions.
Why do some pants cost more than others?
All Dæhlie pants maintain a very high standard of quality. Price reflects the degree of technical optimization. The most advanced pants are developed with extra focus on breathability, durability, fit, and weather protection – tailored for skiers who train at high intensity and demand the best from their gear.
Our design team continuously pushes the boundaries of what a cross-country ski pant can be. When you choose our top models, you get the latest in innovation and the best materials – developed to deliver the same performance, session after session.
